The Indiana State Archives holds the naturalization records for 81 of Indiana's 92 counties. Many of them have already been indexed by volunteers and can be searched at the Indiana Digital Archives. You can help create an index for the Lake County naturalization records from home - all you need is an Internet connection.

The Friends of the Indiana State Archives volunteers have been hard at work for more than twenty years creating indexes to many of the state’s records.

Since before statehood inIndiana, the Crossroads of America, has been home to thousands of settlers and immigrants. The State Archives first began operating under a reorganization fund of the Indiana State Library on a part-time basis inwith Harlow Lindley as the first State Archivist.
